Upload custom emojis to your server, apply for verification checkmarks, and securely transfer server ownership to other members.
We've just rolled out three long-awaited server features: uploading custom emojis, getting your community verified and transferring server ownership.
Upload custom emojis
You can now upload custom images to use as emojis in chat. In server settings, you will find a new emoji tab where you can upload PNGs, JPEGs, or GIFs.
To use those, press the emoji button in the chat bar or write the emoji name between two colons. It works as inline text and together with standard Unicode emojis.
Server verification
We are implementing checkmarks to let everyone know that a particular server is genuine. If you run an official community for any project, brand, or public figure, you can apply to get a checkmark beside your server name. It is just a small hint that prevents people from creating fakes and makes it easier for newcomers to join the proper community.
Transfering server ownership
Sometimes, after creating a server, you might figure out that you simply don’t have enough time to manage it yourself. Now, instead of deleting the server or just passing your login info, you can transfer ownership to any other member.
The feature can be found within the list of members in your server settings. As the feature involves changing ownership permanently, we’ve added an extra step in order to avoid mistakes. Once you confirm it, the other user becomes an owner while you get administrator permissions.
small changes
Along with that, we’ve fixed several bugs and tweaked some visuals: When typing a long text message or pasting images/files in the chat box, your message is now saved by your browser. Thus, even if you accidentally close the tab or switch to another channel, your message will be there.
